Cryptidz – Something Cryptid This Way Comes EP [2010]

June 14, 2010 Leave a comment
CRYPTIDZ was newly formed in 2009, when award winning score composer/punk rock musician Rob Reider {TOOTH AND THE ENAMELS/LO-REZ/GREEN HELL} and death metal vocalist Kam Lee {BONE GNAWER/THE GROTESQUERY and more… formerly of MANTAS-DEATH/MASSACRE/DENIAL FIEND} decided to just go for it and form a creepy eerie horror filled macabre band that blends influences from the 80′s era type of “old school” Death-Rock, Horror Punk, Psychobilly, Surf Rock, and Crust-Core styles.

The general idea and theme of the band is based around classic horror and spook house fun! Zombies, sexy pin up babes, Cryptid creatures – Big Foot/Yeti/Skunk Ape/Chupacabra, sexy pin up babes, beer and alcohol, sexy pin up babes, horror films, sexy pin up babes, Go-Go Dancers, sexy pin up babes, Monsters and Madmen, and even more sexy zombified pin up babes.

Like a carnival ride thru a freak show in hell – CRYPTIDZ shall rattle your brain and twist up your intestines!
Taking influences from ‘classic death rock…

The Living End (U.S.A.) (FEAT: SHAUN KAMA) – All Lit Up! (E.P.) [1993]

June 7, 2010 2 comments
Hey there Kids, Mods, And Rockers!!! Today I have a real treat for you. For those of you from L.A. CA, You already know who THE LIVING END are. See folks this is not that faggy band from AUST.(I always hated those dumb asses) This was the band former Hello Disaster front man Shaun Kama formed. When Hello Disaster tossed him out. What a bunch of dumb fucks they were. I know the whole story cause im friends with members of Hello Disaster and Shaun Kama. And let me tell you Shaun is the only one doing stuff still today.

Well, back in 1992 Shaun mailed me the Living End Demo, It was a 3 track tape and had 3 great songs. Nobody not even Shaun thought that things were going to take off the way they did. I would say within 6 months this band was headlining every major L.A. club.

Then they dropped the 1st EP(ALL LIT UP!), which is the post you are reading. And from there on out the band was thee major Horror rock band at the time. And the only one from L.A., So The Living End went on …

GRAVEYARD SHIFT – Rest Without Peace [2005]

April 7, 2010 Leave a comment
Graveyard Shift formed in the summer of 2001 in a basement in the suburbs of Seattle, WA initially to re-kindle the ashes of a dying scene left by bands such as Los Gatos Locos, and The Spectres. They began writing dark rock and roll and tales of horror. Little did they know the path it would lead them. Nicky Nightmare (drums), Ben Grimm (bass), and Murder Mike (Vocals), who were friends from previous bands, began searching for a unique guitar sound. They found none other than guitarist Chainsaw Chad, whose eerie licks would bring their sound to a whole darker level. Two tracks from which were to be issued on a compilation CD for a short-lived independent label. In August 2002 they issued the split-release, Mutilated Melodies with New Mexico’s 12 Step Rebels and in October 2004 joined the Dead Body Wreckerds family for their full-length debut, Rest Without Peace.

Groovie Ghoulies – Monster Club [2003]

April 7, 2010 Leave a comment
Horror movie-fueled Sacramento, CA, pop-punks the Groovie Ghoulies originally comprised singer/bassist Kepi, his guitarist wife Roach, and drummer Wendy. After debuting in 1989 with the album Appetite for Adrenochrome, the group spent the early ’90s largely out of the spotlight, issuing only the occasional single (including 1990′s “Lost Generation” and 1992′s “Christmas on Mars”) before finally releasing their sophomore album, Born in the Basement, in 1994. By now a hugely popular attraction on the Sacramento club circuit, in 1996 the Groovie Ghoulies signed to Lookout Records to release World Contact Day; Wendy left the lineup soon after, however, and was replaced by ex-Screeching Weasel drummer Dan Panic. In the wake of 1997′s Re-Animation Festival, Panic exited as well and was eventually replaced by drummer Jaz Brown. The Ghoulies’ fifth LP, Fun in the Dark, followed in 1999, and a year later the group resurfaced with Travels with My Amp. The band left Lookout! soon after, but sh…

GARY CELEBRITY – Diary of a monster (REMIXED) [1992]

April 6, 2010 Leave a comment
The first solo album by former Celebrity Skin singer Gary Celebrity — who was known as Gary Jacoby back in the day — basically picks up exactly where 1991′s Good Clean Fun left off. Celebrity and guitarist/co-producer Pat Ruthensmear kick off with a so-straight-it-must-be-a-goof cover of the Kinks’ “Celluloid Heroes” and then march directly into a reprisal of Celebrity Skin’s poppy-glammy-punky roar. Like Redd Kross with a bit less of a ’70s fixation and a ruder sense of humor — “Fairies to London,” anyone? — but a similar knack for throwing out the occasional unexpected pure pop gem (“Gods” would, no kidding, not sound out of place on a mid-’70s Sparks album), Celebrity and Ruthensmear create a more consistently enjoyable record than anything the occasionally brilliant but uneven Celebrity Skin
